Excel Doors

Storm Doors

An extra layer in front of your entry door. Let the breeze and light in when it's nice, and add protection against the weather when it's not.

A new full-view glass storm door on a brick Chicagoland south-suburb home — an Excel install
Family-owned since 1982 44 years in Chicagoland EPA Lead-Safe Certified Energy Star Partner A+ BBB Accredited since 1993

A storm door hangs in front of your entry door and pulls double duty. In nice weather you open the main door and let the breeze and light through the screen. In bad weather it adds a layer that protects your entry door and cuts the draft.

We install full-view, ventilating, and retractable-screen styles to match your door and how you use it. We measure, hang it square so it shuts smooth, and set the closer right. We've been doing this in south-suburb homes since 1982.

Storm Doors — common questions

What does a storm door actually do for me?

Two things. It lets you open up for the breeze through a screen, and it adds a protective layer in front of your entry door against wind, rain, and cold. It can also help your entry door last longer.

Full-view, ventilating, or retractable screen — what's the difference?

Full-view is mostly glass with a swappable screen. Ventilating has a screen built into part of the door. Retractable hides the screen until you slide the glass down. We'll match the style to how you'll use it.

Will it help with drafts in winter?

Yes, some. The extra glass layer in front of your entry door cuts the cold air and adds a bit of insulation. It's not a replacement for a good entry door, but it helps.

Can it stay on year-round?

Yes. Modern storm doors swap between glass and screen panels, so the same door works summer and winter. No taking it down.

Does it work with my existing entry door?

In most cases, yes. We measure to make sure it fits and hangs right in front of your entry door. We'll confirm at the consultation.

How long does the install take?

A storm door is usually a quick, same-day install. We give you a real timeline up front.

What's the warranty?

You get the manufacturer's product warranty plus Excel's labor warranty. The specifics are written into your contract — read them, and ask us anything.

Will the same crew be on my job?

Yes. We send the same crews job after job — low turnover, same faces from start to finish.
