Minooka has more than tripled in size since 2000, from a small railroad village to a town of over 12,000. Most of that growth came from subdivisions like Lakewood Trails, Grand Ridge, and Aux Sable, filling in the fields north of Route 6 near Ridge Road. The older core still sits by the downtown and Aux Sable Creek, but the character here is newer homes on quiet streets. Minooka spreads across Grundy County near the I-80 and I-55 crossroads, about 11 miles southwest of Joliet.
