Excel Doors
Patio Doors
Sliding or hinged French style. The door to your deck or yard should glide easy, lock solid, and seal tight against the cold. We make sure it does.
Patio doors take a beating — they're big, they get used every day, and an old one drags on the track and leaks cold air. We replace them with sliding or hinged French doors that glide smooth, lock solid, and seal tight.
You get a wide view to the yard and a lot more light. We measure the opening, set the door level so it rolls easy, and seal the frame right. We've been installing them in south-suburb homes since 1982.

Patio Doors — common questions
Sliding or French — which should I get?
Sliding doors save space since nothing swings into the room, and they're easy to work. French doors swing open for a wider entry and a more classic look. We'll help you pick based on your space and how you'll use it.
Why does my old slider drag and leak?
The rollers wear out and the track gets bent, so it drags, and the weatherstripping fails, so it leaks. A new door set level on fresh rollers fixes both — smooth glide and a tight seal.
Can I get blinds inside the glass?
Yes, blinds-between-the-glass is a popular option on patio doors. They stay clean and out of the way. We'll show you the options at the measure.
Is the glass safe and energy-efficient?
Yes. Patio doors use tempered safety glass, and the double-pane units with good seals hold up well against a Chicago winter. We'll go over the glass options with you.
Do you handle the screen too?
Yes, sliding patio doors come with a screen, and we make sure it rolls right before we leave. Hinged doors can take a retractable screen if you want one.
How long does the install take?
Most patio doors go in within a day. We give you a real timeline up front.
What's the warranty?
You get the manufacturer's product warranty plus Excel's labor warranty. The specifics are written into your contract — read them, and ask us anything.
Will the same crew be on my job?
Yes. We send the same crews job after job — low turnover, same faces from start to finish.
