Staying in your home shouldn't mean fighting your bathroom every day. An accessible bathroom is about safety that still looks like home — the features that make daily use easier, set into a room that looks like a remodel, not a hospital.

The centerpiece for a lot of folks is the Bath Concepts Alexa walk-in tub: a watertight door with a low step-in, a built-in seat so you sit before you fill, and easy-reach controls. Step in through the door instead of climbing over a high wall, sit down, and soak. For people who'd rather shower, we build low-threshold showers with built-in benches you can sit on and hand-held sprayers you can reach from the seat.

The piece that makes all of it safe is the hardware. We anchor Moen grab bars — the ADA-rated bars are rated to hold 500 lbs — into the wall while it's open, so they hold solid instead of pulling loose. We can add anti-scald Moen valves so the water can't surge hot. We don't call a whole bathroom ADA-compliant — the 500-lb rating is on the grab bars themselves — but we plan the room so the safety is real and the look is still yours. We've been remodeling baths in south-suburb homes since 1982, and our crew handles your job start to finish.

Accessible Bathrooms — common questions

What's the Bath Concepts Alexa walk-in tub?

It's a tub with a watertight door on the side, so you step in through a low opening instead of climbing over a high wall. You sit on a built-in seat, close the door, and fill it up, with easy-reach controls. When you're done you let it drain and step back out. It carries a Limited Lifetime product warranty from Bath Concepts.

Is this bathroom ADA-compliant?

We're careful here: the Moen grab bars we install are ADA-rated and rated to hold 500 lbs, but we don't call a whole bathroom ADA-compliant. We plan the room so the safety features are real and placed for how you move — the rating is on the bars themselves.

Can you do a low step or a curbless entry?

We build low-threshold showers, which take a small step instead of a big lift over a tub wall. That covers most needs and keeps water where it belongs. We'll talk through what works for your space at the consultation.

Do I have to wait while a walk-in tub fills and drains?

A little — you sit down before you fill and stay seated until it drains. Many models have a faster drain to cut that wait. We'll show you the timing at the consultation.

How strong are the grab bars, really?

The ADA-rated Moen bars are rated to hold 500 lbs, and we anchor them into the wall framing while it's open — not into drywall. That's the difference between a bar that holds and one that pulls loose.

Can you keep it from looking like a hospital?

That's the whole idea — safety that still looks like home. The walk-in tub, the bench, and the grab bars come in finishes that read like a normal remodel, not medical equipment. It still looks like your bathroom.

What's the warranty?

The Bath Concepts walk-in tub carries a Limited Lifetime product warranty, the other manufacturers warrant their products, and Excel warrants the labor for 5 years. The specifics are written into your contract — read them, and ask us anything.
