Asphalt shingles are what most homes around here wear, and for good reason — they look good, they hold up to our weather, and they don't break the bank. Architectural shingles add depth and last longer than the old flat three-tab style.
A roof is more than shingles, though. We install the whole system: ice-and-water shield, underlayment, flashing, and proper ventilation. That's what keeps the water out and the roof lasting. We've been roofing south-suburb homes since 1982.

Asphalt Shingle Roofing — common questions
How long does an asphalt shingle roof last?
A quality architectural shingle roof installed right lasts a good two to three decades in our climate, depending on the product and ventilation. We'll go over the warranty specifics with you.
What's the difference between three-tab and architectural shingles?
Three-tab is the older, flat, lighter shingle. Architectural shingles are thicker, layered, and last longer — they also give the roof more depth and texture. We install architectural for most homes.
Can you just roof over my old shingles?
We can in some cases, but we usually recommend a full tear-off. It lets us check the decking, install proper underlayment, and it lasts longer. We'll tell you honestly what your roof needs.
Why does ventilation matter?
A poorly vented attic cooks your shingles from below and traps moisture, which shortens the roof's life. We set up proper ridge and intake ventilation as part of the system.
What if you find rotted decking?
Once the old roof's off we check the wood and replace anything bad before the new roof goes on. We won't shingle over a rotted deck.
How long does the job take?
Most roofs go on in one to two days, weather depending. We give you a real timeline up front.
What's the warranty?
You get the manufacturer's product warranty plus Excel's labor warranty. The specifics are written into your contract — read them, and ask us anything.
Will the same crew be on my job?
